Last December, Noëmi participated in the NBBU collective labor agreement training in Amersfoort. During this training topics came up that she has to deal with during her daily work as a recruitment consultant. As a consultant you deal with different clients, candidates and vacancies. CLAs, however, were a subject she only superficially dealt with in her previous work experience. The training gave her realization about how much influence a collective bargaining agreement has on her role as a recruitment consultant. As a brand new recruitment consultant, she was welcomed over a cup of coffee and cake at the NBBU office where the NBBU collective bargaining training then took place.
Training
The training is offered by NBBU for its members to cover the basics of the NBBU collective bargaining agreement. Several topics were covered: what exactly is a Cla? How is it established? What are the main components to consider?
During a candidate’s onboarding process, questions that relate to the collective bargaining agreement often arise. When it comes to salaries, fringe benefits, compensation or vacation hours, there are many details to consider. How a collective bargaining agreement is drawn up and what securities it provides for the new colleague can sometimes be decisive in why someone chooses to work with TailorMinds or not.
It became clear to Noëmi during this training that it is not only about professional knowledge, but also about translating this knowledge in a transparent way. This provides a form of security and grip for candidates. In the role of Recruitment Consultant, one of the tasks is to make this translation to candidates and to be able to pass on this knowledge.
Strengthening relationships
Not only do collective bargaining agreements affect employees, but also employers. With the help of collective bargaining training, a consultant is able to make the link between the collective bargaining agreements and any customer requirements. This knowledge gives the consultant insight into the room for maneuver and flexibility within the framework of such a collective agreement. This also provides the opportunity to work proactively with clients, anticipate on changes or look for solutions to issues related to the labor market.
When our consultants have a better understanding of how the NBBU collective labor agreement works, it helps to be able to take into account the content of the NBBU collective labor agreement in advance, as well as any collective labor agreement that the client needs to follow. Coordination in advance here ensures clarity for all parties. This knowledge allows consultants to better advise both clients and candidates, which will ultimately also result in better matches, which will hopefully be successful not only in the short term but also in the long term.
After all, as a Recruitment Consultant you don’t want to fill vacancies only, but also get the right people in the right place, resulting in a satisfied partnership for each.
