Last month, just after King’s Day, our new colleague Olwethu arrived in the Netherlands. After a challenging start in our country, he has now started on his new project as Validation Engineer.
First introduction
A year and a half ago, we first met Olwethu. Following his application for a vacancy online, we were able to talk about his knowledge and experience, ambition and desire to continue his career and life in the Netherlands. During this conversation, we were also able to explain what he could expect from TailorMinds and what procedures and formalities emigration entails. There was a positive feeling on both sides and a desire to start working together.
Follow-up procedure
Shortly after the first online acquaintance, we met Olwethu by chance during our visit to South Africa. Here, we again agreed to quickly continue the application procedure and discuss the possible options. In the Netherlands, we discussed his profile again and assessed him as a ‘high potential’ candidate. Afterwards, Olwethu also met with the other consultants, on whom he also left a positive impression. Olwethu started a Dutch language course in South Africa and has now completed A1. He is currently taking the course at A2 level, which he will complete in a few weeks.
Formalities
TailorMinds assists in finding suitable housing when the knowledge migrant is still in the home country. Usually, we manage to have this housing available before the arrival in the Netherlands. In the case of Olwethu, this proved to be quite a challenge. There were several options but not yet concrete at the time he arrived in the Netherlands. This resulted in a creative search for solutions where Olwethu was able to visit several places in the Netherlands in a short time. Fortunately, he managed to find permanent housing and moved in. Registration with the municipality has also been done and he is in possession of a residence permit. Now the final touches need to be added and then all the formalities will be done. We wish Olwethu every success in his current job and good luck with this new step in his life.
