An adapted process for Hüseyin

Soon we expect to welcome a new colleague from Istanbul: Hüseyin. Together with him, we had mapped out a plan. But as often happens, things don’t always go as planned. This was also the case with Hüseyin.

First contact

We got to know Hüseyin after a positive reference from one of our colleagues on a project. They had worked together in Istanbul and, based on her experience, she recommended Hüseyin to us. Enough reason to schedule a first meeting. In it, it quickly became clear that Hüseyin has a good dose of motivation and relevant work experience for us. We also discussed with him the possibilities through TailorMinds after which his interest was aroused.

The plan

After a number of positive discussions, we did come to a realistic conclusion that his years of experience combined with his failure to master the Dutch language were the options less through TailorMinds. Partly because we also have to meet the knowledge migrant standard for him. Thus, the idea arose to sponsor Hüseyin an online Dutch language course. This so that he will have a better chance on the Dutch labor market.

Hüseyin was happy with the plan and went the extra mile. In addition to his Dutch language course, he also took a business level English course. The aim of this was to ensure that in two years time this would prepare him for a better position for our vacancies in the Netherlands.

Adjustments to the plan

A plan on paper is not always the same as how it goes in reality. So too with this plan. The motivation and commitment were not lacking, but the time factor took up more of his time than previously thought. As a result, we have been in contact about how the process can be adjusted so that it is feasible for him. One language course at a time was sufficient and we were not in a hurry yet.

Until we were in touch again in August. Due to formal circumstances in Turkey, Hüseyin was looking for a new job sooner than expected. The plan was changed more drastically in this sense by expressing our confidence that we want to hire him by November 2024 without confirming an assignment in advance. This requires flexibility and trust from both of us. The conclusion of the conversation was positive and thus the process started for him.

Appropriate assignment

For now, we are busy arranging his formalities. For example, we already have permission from the IND for his residence permit and we have started finding suitable housing. One of the outstanding issues is still finding a nice assignment for him in the field of DSP, CQV and/or Project engineering.
