Duties
The Senior Automation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design and delivery of automation solutions for pharmaceutical projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. This position requires advanced technical expertise, leadership in project execution, mentoring of junior engineers, and proactive collaboration across disciplines. The successful candidate will demonstrate readiness for progression into a Lead Engineer role through excellence in technical delivery, innovation, client interaction, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automation System Design: Develop automation design packages (e.g., scopes of work, automation philosophies, system architectures) ensuring adherence to cGMP, GAMP, and client specifications. Review and approve engineering documentation and drawings
- Project Leadership: Track and manage scope, schedule, and cost for assigned automation workstreams, ensuring deviations are minimized and reported. Identify and mitigate project risks, maintaining detailed risk logs.
- Compliance: Ensure all automation systems comply with Dutch and EU regulations, including GAMP 5, GMP, and applicable safety standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, electrical engineers, and HVAC teams, to deliver integrated solutions.
- System Upgrades: Design and plan automation upgrades and modifications in existing pharmaceutical facilities while minimizing disruption to operations.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, User requirement Specifications, Automation Philosophy Descriptions, etc
- Technical Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for automation systems during design, installation, and operational phases.
- Client Interaction: Attend client meetings, presenting automation solutions and progress updates. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through professional communication and responsiveness.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior automation engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
