In late 2025, we shared the good news that Aurelio, an experienced Filipino electrical engineer, would be starting as a Senior Electrical Engineer at one of our clients. From that moment on, everything seemed to be going according to plan. However, we unexpectedly encountered a new concept within our international recruitment processes: the exit visa. This quickly proved to be an essential, yet also delaying, step.<\/p>\n
While we\u2019ve become adept at navigating similar processes, the exit visa presented new challenges. Aurelio was simply not allowed to leave the Philippines without this document. Due to formal procedures, it subsequently proved impossible to link this visa to an employment contract with TailorMinds. The solution came through consultation with our client, who directly hired Aurelio so that the process could get moving again.<\/p>\n
Although this caused a significant delay in the process, all parties\u2014and certainly Aurelio\u2014remained patient and solution-oriented. We also saw the importance of close coordination and collaboration in previous cases, such as with colleagues who went through the process as highly skilled migrants.<\/p>\n
Last month, we finally received the good news: the exit visa had been approved. That set everything in motion. Since Aurelio\u2019s housing had already been arranged, he was able to move into his new home immediately upon arrival. That gave us the peace of mind and breathing room to quickly tackle the rest of the formalities.<\/p>\n
Appointments have now been scheduled for municipal registration, picking up the residence permit, and opening a Dutch bank account. These are steps that are almost second nature to us in our work, but for a professional moving to The Netherlands for the first time, they are incredibly important to complete.<\/p>\n
We\u2019d like to thank Aurelio for his trust, patience, and positive attitude throughout the entire process. This was another valuable learning experience for us as well, especially with regard to future Filipino colleagues who may follow the same path.<\/p>\n
