  • MSc working level
  • More than 10 years experience in application development, both as part of project teams and in managerial role, preferably in different product categories
  • Experience with setting up a global application development organization balancing speed, quality and cost thus optimally supporting the local company strategy
  • Understanding of applications in medical nutrition, sport nutrition, performance nutrition, and early life nutrition (sensory, regulatory, nutritional aspects)
  • Understanding how to formulate new applications based on business needs and on a company’s capabilities
  • Ability to build a compelling vision for the company application development organization based on the overall company strategy and determine how to integrate this in our organization.
  • Ability to analyze and prioritize needs (where to start expanding and why)
  • Excellent stakeholder management capabilities able to align disciplines (R&D, marketing, QA, RA, Nutrition, Sales) and teams and optimize for the best solution.
  • Daring to challenge the status quo.
  • Strong people manager able to build and develop a global application development team and help it grow.

We are looking for a highly experienced interim manager to set up an application development strategy and to subsequently execute this strategy according to plan, delivering a new application development organization. To be successful in this job, the applicant needs to have extensive experience setting up and running application development centers in a business-to-business food (ingredients) company. It concerns a temporary position: once the strategy for the organization is made (including defining a new way of working, team structure, facilities and equipment), the application centers are set up and embedded in the running business, this assignment will end.

We are looking for someone who will:
  • Define and implement a new strategy for application development in Ingredients approved by senior stakeholders. This will also include clear guidelines on how we will service different types of customers and where we should have application development centers;
  • Translate the agreed strategy into a concrete plan and execute accordingly. This may also include setting up of new facilities and/or upgrading existing ones, hiring, and training of new people and embedding them in a global application R&D network;
  • Find ways to attract customers to our application development centers together with other disciplines (marketing, sales) and reformulate current WoW to take the most advantage from new structures;
  • Adapt the applications strategy to each application center, based on the specific regional needs of local customers;
  • Define which applications we will focus on and determine which ones to make in-house and which ones to make externally with co-manufacturers to allow for application development locally at a high speed and relatively good price level;
  • Improve the current system for ordering of applications for trade shows and customer visits (including keeping track of customer feedback to continuously improve our applications);
  • Implement an effective way of working to assure a direct flow of information between development teams and our customers, to help improve the performance of our ingredients in the final customer applications and to identify options for new ingredients;
