In the coming weeks, we will be busy onboarding a number of colleagues from abroad. The first one arrived in The Netherlands yesterday from South Africa: Miguel. He will soon be starting work in the maintenance department of one of our clients.
Housing
As with any process for expats, finding suitable housing takes a lot of time and effort in today’s competitive housing market. This was also the case for Miguel and his wife. Many options were considered, contacted, and viewed. It often becomes apparent that the right home has to come along at the right time. In many cases, luck also plays a role.
In Miguel’s case, it happened to be that friends in The Netherlands were moving, which meant that a home became available for new tenants. Thanks to their positive recommendation, the landlord quickly decided that Miguel and his partner could rent the home. With a new lease in hand, we can also start with the next formalities.
Formalities
Upon arrival in the Netherlands, we were waiting for him at the arrivals hall. It turned out we weren’t the only ones. Miguel’s friends also gave him a warm welcome. Because the journey to the Netherlands took quite a few hours, it was decided to deal with the formalities at a later date. Fortunately, Miguel arrived in the Netherlands well in advance of starting his new job.
In the coming weeks, we will help him open a Dutch bank account, register with the municipality for a BSN, submit the 30% ruling, and many other matters. In the meantime, there is still plenty of time to be a tourist.
Good luck
Everything will finally start on October 1 at our client. We wish him every success in this new big step in his life. Based on the extensive preparation, his enthusiasm, and close contact with the client, this seems to be the start of a great collaboration.
