Family emigration on request

Towards the end of last year, one of our clients asked us to arrange the emigration of a new colleague. Last Friday was the big day: we picked up the colleague and her family at Schiphol Airport. Here is a brief account of the process we went through together with our client and the new colleague.

The request

At TailorMinds, we are increasingly being approached to act as the (temporary) employer for engineers who are relocating abroad. For our client, this means complete peace of mind, as we take care of the visa process, administration, HR record-keeping and the often time-consuming tasks involved in the relocation. For the new colleague, it ensures a smooth process through joint preparation, where we guide them through the steps in a logical sequence. In this case, our client had seen the new colleague at work as a Validation Consultant on a previous project in the Netherlands, and mutual interest had been established.

A tailored solution for Harina

Following our client’s request, we scheduled a Teams meeting to get to know each other. As there was a long notice period, we held many short meetings during which we could share status updates after signing the agreements and submitting them to the IND. Initially, the plan was for Harina to come alone and for her family to join her later, as we were still awaiting official documents. Harina had previously gained experience in the Netherlands through a variant of the highly skilled migrant scheme. As a result, she already had all her documents in order. In the months that followed, it became clear that we would also be able to submit the documents for her family members by the end of February. As this process went smoothly via the IND, both the permit and the entry visa were ready on time. However, due to the war in the Middle East, booking the flight tickets proved to be a challenge. The availability of affordable tickets that do not fly via that region has fallen in recent weeks, causing prices to skyrocket. Nevertheless, we managed to book a ticket. This meant the family could still travel together.

Formalities and accommodation

Due to personal preference, we opted to arrange accommodation via the short-stay option during this process. This gives us a few months to find permanent accommodation. It also allows us to sort out the formalities. Appointments have now been scheduled to collect the visa, register with the local council, and sign and submit documents. She is expected to arrive at our client’s premises on Wednesday.
