Knowledge and network event 2025

Every year, we bring our colleagues together to share knowledge and network under the name of ‘the knowledge and network event’. This year, trainer Bas Moleman shared insights on learning to say ‘no’ and compliance challenges in the world of ATMPs. A recap of this edition at the Biotech Training Facility in Leiden.

Learning to say ‘no’

The first part of this event focused on the soft skills of our colleagues. Because we visit them for an average of six to eight weeks, we often discuss issues and challenges. A common and recurring theme among our technical colleagues is learning to say no. People are often motivated to get the most out of their work and therefore seem to say yes more often than is actually convenient for them. Why is that and how can it be changed?

Bas shared his perspectives on the word ‘no’ with us. By setting clear boundaries, asking questions, and considering what it contributes to yourself, this lowers the threshold and improves understanding for the questioner. With these useful tips and tricks, we hope to send them on their way to current and upcoming projects.

Compliance challenges in ATMPs

The second part focused more on hard skills. Here, Bas took us on a journey through the wonderful world of ATMPs (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products) and the differences between them and regular GMP environments. Due to crucial deadlines and customized products, considerations for releasing products sometimes seem to go against GMP principles. Less attention is paid to avoiding risks and more to risk analysis and choices based on scientific evidence.

Together with two case studies on HVAC and WFI, colleagues were challenged: how to deal with deviating results in combination with a tight delivery date? This led to interesting discussions about which steps to follow and which steps might be approached differently. Finally, Bas’s results and feedback were reviewed over an Asian buffet, bringing the day to a close.

Thank you, Bas and BTF.

We look back on an informative afternoon with lots of interaction, knowledge sharing, and networking. We would like to thank Bas for sharing his knowledge, expertise, and experience with TailorMinds. Additionally we would like to thank BTF for facilitating this day. On to the next event!
