Last Friday afternoon, the office at TailorMinds was pleasantly busy. With Nordin of partner Annonu as our advisor, we organised a tax afternoon to provide support in preparing or filing tax returns. We can’t make it any more fun…, can we?
A complicated job
Not everyone is familiar with how to fill in a tax form. Despite the wide range of tools, books and manuals available, filing a tax form is still considered a complicated job. For this reason, we offer our colleagues voluntary tax filing assistance. Nordin from Annonu was at the office for one-on-one meetings. A number of colleagues joined us around lunchtime, making it pleasantly busy. In addition to the socialising, there was the opportunity to catch up, or to play a game of ‘Ligretto’ while waiting. People could take turns to talk privately with Nordin to prepare their tax forms, answer questions and coordinate what needs to be submitted to complete the tax form.
First tax declaration
When you emigrate to the Netherlands, you are faced with a lot of new things. After the completion of a calendar year, you must also file your first tax form. Filing your first tax form is particularly complex because you are still unfamiliar with the Dutch tax system. In addition, the tax form covers a full calendar year, while most expats have a tax year that is not a full year in their first year. Because we at TailorMinds strive to complete the circle in this field as well, offering help with the first tax form is a logical service.
Private
Other than providing or offering payslips and annual statements, this is a process that we only facilitate. The completion and the results are private. For that very reason, it is good to know that our colleagues can use Nordin from Annonu’s expert advice to help them complete their tax forms correctly.
