Lee

Lee is ready

Last week we welcomed our new colleague from South Africa to the Netherlands: Lee. She will start work tomorrow as a Manufacturing Process Engineer at one of our relations. Before she starts, a series of formalities have been arranged and during these days a dream came true: experiencing snow.

Arrival in the Netherlands

Last Thursday, we picked Lee up at Schiphol Airport to accompany her with a series of formalities. Prior to her arrival in the Netherlands, a lot had to be arranged in South Africa. Think of preparing formal documents such as a birth certificate with apostille, organizing the inventory left behind and the many farewell parties.

Since Lee also had to serve her notice period, the last few weeks went like an express train for her. This experience is not new one for with us aspiring expats, but for the expat the reality can hit hard at the moment of onboarding the plane to the Netherlands. Fortunately, we were there for her upon her arrival in the Netherlands.

A dream come true: snow

Arrival in March was relatively cold and wet. This created a long-cherished dream for Lee that had not yet come true in South Africa: experiencing real snow. The day after arriving, this dream became a reality. A real snow shower appeared and Lee thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In other words, the first contact with snow was a fact. Since Lee’s intention is to settle permanently in the Netherlands, hopefully many more will follow for her.

Formalities in the Netherlands

Besides the dreams, there are also formalities to be arranged as usual. Together with Lee, many things were coordinated, arrangements made and formalities arranged. Because of the good preparations, we were able to arrange most things prior to her starting on her project. This is always our goal, however not always possible due to the many external factors we depend on. We thank Lee for her trust and cooperation with us and wish her a lot of fun and success with her new challenges in the Netherlands.
