At TailorMinds, we receive a lot of responses to our video pitches and job vacancies on LinkedIn or on our website. In our niche market, demand is currently somewhat slower. Nevertheless, we have received more than 500 responses to job vacancies from the Netherlands and abroad in the past three months. As this is more than we can process, we would like to explain what you can expect.
Vacancies and project enquiries
We receive both job vacancies and enquiries for project-based (temporary) assignments from our clients. In all cases, we assess applications based on suitability, language skills, availability, feasibility and future perspective. If we believe that a candidate is a good fit, we will contact them for an interview, taking into account their availability and presence in the Netherlands. For assignments with a shorter expected duration, we do not consider it realistic to facilitate full emigration due to the likelihood that there will be no follow-up after the assignment has been completed.
Language skills
A number of our clients are open to candidates who currently only have English language skills. These vacancies can be found on the English-language section of our website. Vacancies where Dutch is a must (sometimes fluent Afrikaans is also accepted) can be found on the Dutch section of the website.
Emigration is a serious process that should not be rushed.
From the conversations we have with candidates, we notice that there may be a well-thought-out plan in place and that they are just waiting for the right opportunity. Their suitcases are already packed, so to speak. We often find that people are still in the process of considering their options. After an interview, there are often several more conversations in which we answer as many questions as possible about their plans to emigrate. These questions vary per person and family situation, and the country of origin can also play a major role in shaping their image and the expected work-life balance after emigration.
Expectation management and pride
The result of this process is that ‘fast’ emigration is possible within three months from the moment of initial contact to the start. In practice, we often remain in contact for longer, sometimes several years, before emigration takes place. We are proud that of the nearly 100 emigrations we have facilitated to date, only three former colleagues have chosen to return to their country of origin of their own accord. The others are mostly employed by our business relations and still live and work in the Netherlands.
