At the end of 2025, we expect to welcome a new colleague from the Philippines in the Netherlands: Aurelio. In the new year, he will start working as a Senior Electrical Engineer at one of our clients in the engineering sector. It was a process in which we patiently waited for the right moment.
Passively looking
We came into contact with Aurelio via LinkedIn, where he had indicated that he might be interested in vacancies in Electrical Engineering. When TailorMinds approached him to ask if he was also open to vacancies in the Netherlands, it wasn’t his first thought, but he was open to an introduction. During the initial introductory meetings, his relevant knowledge and experience became clear, as did his motivation to seek a better work-life balance. Based on this, working in the Netherlands could be a possibility for him and his family.
With this information, we asked our contacts whether he could be of added value to them. This resulted in a number of options, one of which became more concrete with only one condition: it is still unknown when the project will actually start.
Waiting for a go
Although the initial interview was positive for both parties, the process could not be continued, putting everything on hold. In the meantime, we kept in touch with Aurelio, who was clearly set on this specific project. Fortunately, his patience was rewarded: a few months later, the project was given the green light.
The second interview followed quickly, as did the positive news that he had been hired as a Senior Electrical Engineer! This meant that we could start making all the preparations and we expect him to arrive in the Netherlands at the end of December, so that he can start work at the beginning of January.
Preparations
As always, smooth onboarding in the Netherlands depends on thorough preparation. A number of things have already been set in motion, such as applying for his highly skilled migrant visa, searching for suitable accommodation, and arranging schools for the children. There is still a lot to be done, and TailorMinds will support him throughout the entire process. We look forward to working with him and welcoming our first Filipino colleague!
