Sometimes, a collaboration with a candidate comes together quickly. In other cases, it is all about staying in touch, being patient and waiting for the right opportunity. At the beginning of October, we were pleased to welcome a new colleague who started as a CQV Engineer with one of our clients through TailorMinds.
Waiting for the Right Opportunity
A great moment, especially because it followed a much longer journey. We had already been in contact with her for quite some time, regularly discussing her experience, ambitions and opportunities in the Netherlands. The interest in working together was there on both sides, but the right opportunity at the right time had not yet presented itself.
Recruitment is not just about finding the right candidate for an open position. It is equally important that the responsibilities, organisation, experience and timing are all the right fit. Especially when someone is taking the step to move to the Netherlands, we believe it is important to build a solid foundation for a long-term collaboration.
That is why we stayed in touch over the years. Several opportunities came along, but each time it turned out not to be quite the right step. Until a request for a CQV Engineer came in and we quickly thought: this might just be the right opportunity. After introducing her to our client, the interviews followed and it soon became clear that there was indeed a strong match. The relationship we had built over the years could finally turn into a concrete collaboration.
From Agreement to the Netherlands
Once all parties had reached an agreement, a completely different process could begin. After all, for an international colleague, starting a new job involves much more than signing an agreement and scheduling a first working day. Once the agreements had been finalised, we immediately started preparing for her move to the Netherlands. This included arranging the residence permit procedure, housing and several other practical formalities.
These are processes in which we have built up considerable experience at TailorMinds. Our aim is not only to guide the administrative process properly, but also to take as many practical matters off someone’s hands as possible. After all, an international relocation already brings enough changes of its own.
The First Few Weeks
Our new colleague has now started as a CQV Engineer at the beginning of October and has completed her first training sessions with the client. Naturally, a new working environment always takes some getting used to. Besides meeting new colleagues, it also means becoming familiar with the organisation, systems, procedures and ways of working.
Important steps have also been taken outside of work. An apartment has now been arranged, meaning one of the most important matters after arriving in the Netherlands has been taken care of.
For now, the focus is on two things: continuing to settle into her new role as a CQV Engineer and completing the remaining formalities in the Netherlands.
Interested?
Are you an engineer and curious about the opportunities available through TailorMinds? Or are you considering making the move to the Netherlands from abroad? Feel free to get in touch. We would be happy to meet you and explore the possibilities together.
