The WoTS fair is a two-yearly World of Technology & Science trade fair for professionals in technology, industry, laboratories and automation. We recently visited this fair. A brief recap.
World of Technology & Industry
WoTS, as it is commonly known, is a trade fair for professionals from the fields of industry, laboratory technology, automation, measurement and control technology, and the life sciences. Participants include companies, suppliers, researchers and technicians who showcase new technologies, innovations and equipment. Visitors are mainly technicians and engineers, laboratory staff, R&D professionals, production and process managers, students of technical disciplines, and companies that procure or develop technology. Several halls were divided into various ‘worlds’. This year, these were the World of Industry, World of Electronics and World of Laboratory.
Our visit
What makes it interesting for us is that there are demonstrations of new machines, sensors, robots, laboratory equipment and automation solutions on display. You could also attend lectures and seminars on current topics such as digitalisation, sustainability, AI, process automation and smart industry. We recently published a report on a training course we attended in the field of ATMP. Our visit to this trade fair is a natural extension of this – gaining new knowledge and keeping up to date with developments that are sometimes happening at breakneck speed.
Networking
It’s worth noting that there are plenty of opportunities for networking at a trade fair like this. For those looking to make new contacts, observing the ‘dynamic’ between exhibitors and visitors is fascinating – who might be of interest and who might not. Re-establishing contact with connections from your network who are exhibiting at the fair by paying an informal visit to their stand is also an efficient and accessible way to do so. Companies do their best to make the best possible impression with everything they present. For TailorMinds, it is not the decision-makers who are present at such a trade fair, but their colleagues, who can give you a good impression of the job satisfaction, atmosphere and culture simply by talking to them. These are things you often don’t pick up from polished websites. The result was a fruitful day, following which we’ll be approaching a number of interesting companies to find out whether we can collaborate with them on capacity-related issues.
