Shaun

A successful braai with Shaun

At the end of May we expect to welcome a new colleague to the Netherlands: Shaun. Shaun will be working as a Project Engineer Facilities at one of our relations in the pharmaceutical industry. Meeting him was certainly not on an empty stomach.

The South African braai

During our visit to South Africa last November, we were invited to a South African braai at the home of our, then, soon-to-be colleague Jeandré. Coincidentally, his mentor, Shaun, also stopped by for a drink and we got to talking. In it, Shaun indicated that he is not currently interested in working in the Netherlands. This is because there are enough projects for him in South Africa for his own company.

Still, Shaun asked the question about working in the Netherlands. Just in case interesting opportunities do arise in the long run. After a brief explanation of the process with TailorMinds, we agreed we should move on to socializing. A long night at the braai in Port Elizabeth followed.

Changes in South Africa

Once back in the Netherlands, we maintained contact with Shaun. However, around February there was a turnaround for Shaun and his partner. The interest in coming to the Netherlands to work through TailorMinds had grown and so they still wanted to start the process of looking at opportunities. A concrete vacancy soon followed that almost perfectly matched his work experience in terms of content.

Both Shaun and the client thought the same about the fit with the job posting. He was invited for an interview. Here it was an instant hit as Shaun was selected as the most suitable candidate. This allowed us to start the process for Shaun.

The process

The first steps have already been taken. The application with the IND for him has already been submitted, his partner is arranging various papers and in the Netherlands we have started to find suitable housing. In the coming period we will stay in close contact to arrange the process together.

We wish him and his wife good luck in the whole process. See you soon in the Netherlands!
