GMP training

GMP training for Hans and Peter

Last Tuesday two of our consultants Hans and Peter went for a hands-on GMP training at the Biotech Training Facility in Leiden. This course is intended to give us a better understanding of the complexities in the pharmaceutical production.

Training

From a public perspective, what do we expect from medication when we are using it? What are the things we think about as patients when we consume prescribed medicines? Would it be things like questioning if the active ingredients are effective, if the side effects are well studied, or if the product was safely packaged? Generally, we can assume that is not the case, as patients we want to trust the quality of the medicines we use, and that the production of medicines are patient centered. However, when mistakes happen this trust can be broken.

The Biotech training Facility is an unique training centre where we were trained in the Basics of Pharmaceutical Production. It is also a real-life pharmaceutical production plant, being used as a pilot plant for testing equipment and processes. With the expert guidance of Ciriel Bhikhie, we were systematically taken through the enormous amount of detail that is included in GMP. It was done in a very effective way so we can take the basics home and understand the process.

Application

Therefore all these questions are important considerations in the entire process of producing medicines. The safety regulations in the manufacturing of pharmaceutics, includes GMP. These are stipulated good practices specifically designed to ensure the entire process is as safe and uncontaminated as possible.

In gaining more detailed knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and GMP, Hans and Peter are now able to assist our candidates and clients on a even better level. At TailorMinds we are proud to create a tailormade match for each individual we work with, connecting both the personal and technical background.

The training day ended with some practical experience, this included seeing the equipment, doing failure checks, recognizing deviations and fully appreciating the complexity of working in aseptic environments. This was a wonderful experience, and as consultants at TailorMinds we now feel better equipped in understanding and appreciation the complexity of pharmaceutical production.
