Last week we welcomed our new colleague Jaques and his family to the Netherlands. Jaques is from South Africa and has now started at our relationship as a Software Service Engineer.
First acquaintance
The first acquaintance with Jaques was in September last year. Jaques was already in contact with our relation and the desire was to start a cooperation in the Netherlands. From the first moment of contact he showed great enthusiasm and indicated that he was ready for a new future in the Netherlands. We then discussed the relocation procedure and signed the contracts. Jaques went to work arranging the necessary documentation. The planning was to start in early 2023 so he had enough time to arrange the formalities in South Africa.
Follow-up procedure
In recent months we have kept in constant contact with Jaques. It was important for us to know the status of the documents he had to provide. After Jaques was able to prepare the necessary documentation, we were able to start the IND procedure. The approval of the IND did not take long and the appointment at the Dutch Embassy in South Africa could be made. However, due to the holidays around the turn of the year, it turned out that there was no time to visit the embassy until a few weeks later. In consultation with our relation it was possible for Jaques to come to the Netherlands a little later than planned and start in his new position.
Housing and other formalities
In the meantime, Jaques and his family have been busy finding suitable housing. This proved challenging given the limited supply and availability of housing. In cooperation with a helpful real estate agent, we were able to find a spacious home that met the needs of Jaques and his family. However, it was not yet available upon their arrival in the Netherlands so they stayed the first 2 nights in a B&B. Last Friday was the day: the house could be moved into. For the further decoration and furnishing of this house, we were able to use a partner company HomeFlex which was able to professionally transform an unfurnished house into a furnished house.
The residence permits have been picked up and the appointment for registration at the municipality is scheduled this week. After that, we will help Jaques with a bank account, health insurance and other formalities. We wish Jaques and his family good luck, job satisfaction and a bright future in the Netherlands!
