Looking back at 2022

We look back with pride and great pleasure. A busy year in which we grew the team both internally and externally, despite a declining epidemic and a double-impact war in the Netherlands. Time for a look back at our year 2022.

Busy year

It was a busy year because we realised a record number of projects and were entrusted with additional ones. As a result, we were at Schiphol more often this year than in other years. Not always a furnished house was found for our new colleagues. Regularly an order was delivered, or a trip to a yellow-labelled department store was made. Fortunately, our new colleagues were able to actually move into their new homes instead of camping out. We also noticed growing pressure at some municipalities which sometimes took longer to obtain a BSN. Nevertheless, we think the examples mentioned are positive. This is because we do not avoid these hurdles, but see them as challenges!

Special year

Special because we notice the effects of a war on our continent in the not yet stable energy prices. Inflation is also contributing significantly to uncertainty. So far, this did not translate into a decrease in requests. Demand increased and because a few years ago we partly shifted our focus to finding the right new people who want to pursue their future in the Netherlands, we were able to respond to this. Substantial growth was the result.

Staying connected

Connections give us energy, whether it is a good in-depth interview, an introduction where client and candidate find each other, or a personal progress meeting. We also find satisfaction in a colleague’s newly built life in the Netherlands after a turbulent period of emigration. This year, we chose to fulfil a wish from before the corona period. Sander and Peter travelled to Port Elizabeth in November with two South African colleagues to interview potential new colleagues. The first interviews with our relations have already been scheduled and more are expected to follow.

Over the past two years, we have done many interviews and meetings behind a screen. We found that this works fine functionally, but nothing beats being in contact live. This year, many progress meetings became lunch meetings again. We were able to organise the Summer BBQ again and at the end of November we were able to enjoy an end-of-year dinner together with our colleagues. What was not yet successful was picking up the thread with the knowledge network events. However, this is on the agenda for next year.

Keep making a difference in 2023

Our vision is that we can only contribute to reducing the scarcity of engineers in the market by bringing in new engineers. Besides having a good connection with Dutch engineers in our network that we connect with because they are looking for a new challenge or their next project. In 2022, we were able to handle 19 full emigrations with a highlight in the third quarter where a total of 10 emigrations were realised. Four more procedures have already been started for 2023. In addition, our internal team has almost doubled this year. For this, we are still looking for an administrative assistant. See the link to the vacancy and our pitch.
